Moving in Burleigh Heads
Burleigh Heads has evolved from a relaxed surfing suburb into one of the most sought-after residential pockets on the Gold Coast, with a house price premium that reflects the combination of the Burleigh Heads National Park headland, the patrolled beach, and the vibrant dining precinct on James Street. The housing is a mix of older fibro and brick cottages from the 1960s and 1970s on the flat streets behind the beach, newer contemporary homes on the hinterland side of the Gold Coast Highway, and a growing number of 4-to-8 storey apartment buildings overlooking the park. The streets closest to the headland are steep and narrow in sections — particularly around Pacific Boulevard and The Esplanade, where parking is extremely limited and time-restricted. Trucks above a standard two-tonne body often cannot access the tightest streets, which requires a carry from the end of the road.
Local access & logistics
Every Burleigh Heads move starts with the access, because that is what decides the truck, the crew and the timing. Here is what we plan around in Burleigh Heads:
- Streets near the Burleigh Heads headland (Pacific Boulevard, The Esplanade) are steep and narrow — standard removal trucks sometimes cannot access; a carry from the street end may be required
- Time-restricted parking zones enforce 15-minute limits on key loading areas near the James Street dining precinct
- The mix of 1960s fibro cottages and new contemporary homes on the same street creates wide variation in access — some properties have easy garage access, others have zero verge and shared driveways
- Burleigh Heads National Park forms the southern boundary — the park road is narrow and trucks are not permitted to park on it
Send us the pickup and drop-off addresses with your quote and we'll tell you exactly how we'd handle your move, including parking, the carry and any lift or staircase that needs a plan.

Parking on the Gold Coast — council permits and practical reality
The City of Gold Coast council offers a Special Parking Permit for residential moves on metered or time-restricted council streets. Apply via the council's online permits portal at least 3 business days before your move date — permits are free for residential relocations and specify a section of street for one day. For private strata buildings and tower complexes, the relevant authority is the owners corporation (body corporate), not the council — your building manager handles loading bay and goods lift bookings separately. In practice, beachside streets in Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach enforce time limits actively, so a council permit is worth securing for any move on those streets. Inland suburbs (Robina, Varsity Lakes, Nerang) rarely need a formal permit because street parking is unmetered and unrestricted; a truck parked on the verge or in a wide residential street is generally fine.
Burleigh Heads removals: common questions
My house is on Pacific Boulevard — can a removal truck access it?
Pacific Boulevard and the streets running off The Esplanade near the headland are steep and narrow in sections. Standard 7.5m removal trucks can usually access, but oversized trucks cannot turn around and must reverse in. We inspect the street-level access before your move date and bring the appropriately sized vehicle.
Can I get a parking permit near the James Street dining precinct in Burleigh?
Yes — the City of Gold Coast Special Parking Permit applies to time-restricted streets near James Street. Apply at least 3 business days in advance through the council online portal. For streets without time restrictions further from the precinct, no permit is needed.
How much does a move in Burleigh Heads cost?
Our online-quote rates start at $200/hour for two movers and a truck ($250 for three movers, $400 for a larger crew with two trucks), and you get a clear indicative range up front before you commit. No hidden fees on the day.
